I wavered on getting this box set over the weekend and then it was sold out. I think I am glad that I didn't order it. $450.00 for shows that I have soundboards for all but about three or four shows is just hard for me to justify. If they release a few individual shows of the tour I may pick them up. I have every offical release before this but this is where I put a hold on my consumption.

I think that the saddest thing about this may be that the soundboards will no longer be available here or elsewhere and newbies may miss out on some of the most exciting shows ever and not get what it is all about.

I wavered too, I think we all did. But I went for it. My rationale - I do NOT have all the official releases (RTs, DPs) - in fact, very few of them. I'm playing catch-up.

An art director friend of mine once said: "if your hand doesn't shake when you write the invoice, you're not charging enough."

I think Rhino had the shakes before this release, only to find that it didn't scare too many people at all!

Do not worry about the newbies who are generally younger and more computer savy than us old farts. This release will be online within days of its release, as are all other official releases.

In my view, the way this release was handled was a major screw-up by Rhino. I can not believe they did not learn from the FW'69 limited release. Demand was seriously underestimated resulting in a significant transfer of profits from Rhino to the re-sellers. The same thing is happening here. The absurd threat that a certain number must be sold by what April further proves this point. These guys have no clue...heads should roll for this.

Let's see if they learn. Clearly, full tours or at least legs of tours are in demand. Sure, label these as limited releases but set the limit at 25k per release. I'd say release all multi-tracks in the full tour format within a 3-5 year period.

Cliff is right. This is a game-changer. Let's see what happens next.

I did the same and actually felt a sense of relief when I found it was sold out. It solved the dilemna - I wanted it, but it was hard to justify spending that much. If only I'd studied and joined Goldmann Sachs.
